I use Hoodman RAW cards because I can't afford not
to. I travel to a distant location, expend time, money, and energy to capture
the best photographs I'm capable of taking, and my clients expect nothing less.
To save a few dollars on cards I don't have confidence in is not an option for
me or my client. In my teaching career I have worked with many thousands of
digital photographers in the field and I have rescued, or tried to rescue, many
captures from failed cards, non of these have been RAW cards.
Many of us are not into capturing HD video with our
DSLRs, I work with the Canon EOS 5D MK II. The amount of data captured with
this type of camera is even greater than before. I can't afford a failure and
the RAW cards don't fail.
Hoodman makes two other products that I use on a
regular basis. The Hoodman Loupe is a "must have" in the field and the new 3"
version works great on the 5D MK II. Good optics are needed to evaluate an
image with a loupe and the Hoodman has excellent quality. I also use the
Hoodman UDMA firewire card reader for my CF cards, and when you fill several
16GB RAW cards, the exra speed of transfer is a good thing.
